ATLANTA (AP) a Freshman Spike Albrecht made four 3-pointers to keep perfect from beyond the arc for the contest and help Michigan work to a 33-21 guide over Louisville with only inside of 4 minutes left in the first half the national title game. Albrecht, who averages under two and eight minutes points a game, had 17 with time still left in the first half. He was 6 of 7 over all from the floor. Player of the Year Trey Burke scored eight points over the first 2:44 for the Wolverines to match his total production from Saturday night's semifinal. But he also received his 2nd foul with 11:09 and was removed from the game by coach John Beilein. Not to worry. With his shooting streak, Albrecht increased to 9-for-9 from long range so far in the event. He's not missed a since March 3. Before this game, he had only scored 67 points all year. David Blackshear had five items for Louisville, that has been having trouble matching Michigan shot-for-shot. The Wolverines were firing 52 %, whilst the Cardinals were at 39. Seeing from the stands were all five members of the Fab Five, the bold number of sophomores who led Michigan (31-7) to the final in 1993 a the program's last look at the Final Four. That included Chris Webber, who infamously termed a timeout the Wolverines did not have at the conclusion of Michigan's 77-71 damage to Vermont in the 1993 final. He's had very little related to his alma mater in recent years, but was seen leaving his car and going to the Georgia Dome briefly before tip-off. Top-seeded Louisville (34-5) is attempting to create its first title back to the state of Kentucky's "other" school since 1986. Sitting on the table with the Cardinals is sophomore guard Kevin Ware, the team's enthusiasm since taking his tibia in the local final last weekend. Cardinals coach Rick Pitino is operating the sideline hours after being named to the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. Pitino is attempting to become the first instructor to guide two plans to national titles. He took Kentucky to the title in 1996. Russ Smith, the Louisville group leader who Pitino has nicknamed "Russdiculous" for some of his wild a' and extremely powerful a' tricks on the court, scores 18.9 points a game for the Cardinals during the year but has picked up the rating in the contest, averaging 25 in the five Louisville wins. The Cardinals are playing without their main hold, his leg was broken by Ware, who in the final against Duke. Requiring a collection without Ware, points were scored 20 by reserve swingman Luke Hancock in the 72-68 win over Wichita State. And seldom used walk-on Tim Henderson made two key 3-pointers throughout the comeback. "The other night, we weren't likely to play in the title game unless a steps up and makes a play to provide us momentum," Pitino mentioned in a pregame meeting. Michigan topped Syracuse 61-56 on Saturday despite an evening from Burke, who concluded with only seven items on 1-for-8 shooting. Burke, a, significantly considered leaving for the NBA after last season but decided he had unfinished business left in Ann Arbor. He is now one victory away from the best prize in college hoops, and picked up the AP Player of the Entire Year award, among others. Before leaving the locker room, Beilein gave his group a talk: "You play with poise, play with confidence, today you do all those things and we are likely to have one heck of a celebration," he explained. Monday night's game is the final act in what's been an unpleasant season general in college hoops, with score at its lowest (67.49 points per group) since 1951-52 and shooting at its worst (43.3 percent) since 1964-65. The 131.2-points-per-game average during March Madness is the lowest since the 3-point point was delivered to the game in 1987, though the groups were on speed to easily exceed that midway through the first half.
